From sitting in a Del Valle High School classroom to running her own, DVHS alum Jessica Suarez Ruiz (Class of '19) has officially come full circle, returning to her alma mater as our newest Hospitality teacher.

Del Valle ISD is excited to announce that two school leaders in our district have been accepted into prestigious programs to help advance their leadership skills.

Del Valle ISD elementary school students were surprised on Friday with free school supply kits that include all the materials they’ll need to have an awesome start to the school year.

The Del Valle Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved calling a Voter-Approved Tax Ratification Election for the November 3 ballot. Proposition A would provide $13.9 million of new funding to Del Valle ISD in the current fiscal year (and is expected to provide at least as much each year thereafter) to support the district’s Maintenance & Operations (M&O) instructional budget.

The district has officially announced Nichole Thompson as the new principal of the Opportunity Center and DAEP, following approval at the June 16, 2026 Board of Trustees meeting. Ms. Thompson was selected for her unique ability to balance rigorous academic support with a compassionate, restorative approach to student behavior.

At the June 16 Board Meeting, Melissa Arely Kender was named the new principal of Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary School! Throughout the search process, we looked for a bilingual leader dedicated to fostering inclusive, rigorous learning environments for all children, and we found exactly that in Ms. Kender.
